The core issue of this project is how to rejuvenate traditional wooden buildings to meet the functional needs of modern lifestyles. Our strategy is to keep the original wood structure system without destroying it. The new parts are located on the side of the old part, which has the effect of heat preservation and energy-saving and can be used for the extra space of equipment required for modern functions (transportation, toilet, pipeline, air conditioning, etc.) put here. The double-wall method liberates the freedom of opening windows in the interior. Chinese traditional culture focused on the overall environment construction; it is not superfluous to expand a specific range based on the original structural system but to create a comfortable atmosphere for the entire interior space.

这个项目的核心议题是如何传统的木结构建筑焕发新的生命力，满足现代生活方式的功能需求。我们的策略是保留原有木结构体系，不对其破坏，新建部分位于东西两侧，既有保温节能作用，又可以将现代功能所需的设备附属空间（交通、卫生间、管线、空调等等）放置于此。双层墙做法解放了室内的开窗自由度。中国传统文化讲究整体环境营造，在原有结构体系的基础上扩建一定范围，这不是画蛇添足，而是为整个室内空间营造舒适的气场氛围。花草树木都能带来灵气。
